    Responsibilities

    Schedule:
    Monday - Friday, 9 hour shift, including 1 hour lunch between 6:00am and 6:00pm
    No weekends or holidays
     

    Job Specific Duties:

    The type of work may include, but is not limited to, the following:
     
    • Shall have sufficient experience to be able to adequately diagnose, treat, and perform the full spectrum of outpatient medical care to include the following: minor surgical procedures, GYN, orthopedic, respiratory, cardiac, gastrointestinal, endocrine, and neurological conditions. Provider will be required to see a minimum of seventy (70) patients per week.
    • Functions in accordance with the Commander/Commanding Officer’s clinical privileging process and the overall demand for Primary Care services. 
    • Practices within the guidelines set by the credentialing office of the MTF and the Medical Director. 
    • Assists with orientation, teaching, and supervision of nurses and subordinate personnel within the assigned clinic. 
    • Provides productivity that is comparable to that of the other civilian and other military Primary Care Nurse Practitioners assigned to the same facility and authorized the same scope of practice. 
    • Continuously evaluates, plans and intervenes to improve health of at-risk population using MTF disease management tools, outcome based medicine and outcome data. Collaborates with Health Care Integrator, Group Practice Manager and members of Primary Care Team to meet population health needs of patients.
    • Provides appropriate patient/family/guardian teaching and education; evaluates effectiveness and level of understanding. Provides developmentally appropriate anticipatory guidance education and counseling to patients and their families. 
    • Orders and interprets diagnostic studies, prescribes medication and provides direct hands-on patient care and selected procedures approved by the Medical Director, Family Practice or Chief, Medical Staff (SGH). 
    • Responds to codes in the MTF. 
    • Documents medical assessments and plan of care accurately using the SF 600 or AHLTA, and complete all required documentation, including profiles, in a timely manner. 
    • Consults with other specialty practitioners within and outside of the MTF for consultative opinions and continuation of care. 
    • Utilizes AF software and computer programs as directed to include CHCS I, ASIMS and AHLTA. 
    • Maintains outpatient records as required by MTF and AF regulations. 
    • Interfaces with local agencies, command post, base security police, fire department, and Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC). 
    • Obtains necessary information on patients such as medical records, x-ray films, labs, and reports. 
    • Maintains currency in continuing education requirements, annual training and other reoccurring training and/or episodic training as directed by the MTF. 
    • Attends staff meetings and professional meetings as directed by Flight Commander or the Chief of the Medical Staff.
     

    Qualifications

    Minimum Qualifications:
    Education:  MSN, graduate of an approved Nurse Practitioner program.
    License/Certification and Training: Active unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license from any state; must maintain BLS.
    Experience:  Minimum 2 years' NP experience.
    Security:  Must be a US Citizen and must be able to pass a government background check.
