    Responsibilities

    Schedule:
    Monday-Friday: 7:30am-4:30pm (40 hours/week)
    No Holidays/No Weekends/No Call
      
    Job Specific Details/Tasks:
    Nurse Practitioners shall have sufficient training/experience to be able to perform the required duties which include, but not limited to the following:
    • Serves primarily as a nurse practitioner for outpatient clinics as directed by the Chief, Department of OBGYN or designated representative. Cares for outpatients with both acute and chronic gynecological, obstetric, or primary care issues. In the outpatient clinic setting, examine patients, take histories, perform physical examinations, order laboratory tests, make definitive diagnoses and prescribe treatment and perform procedures to meet needs of patients, and refer as appropriate to specialty/subspecialty care, including consulting Ob/Gyn physician on duty when needed. 
    • Manage full spectrum of care for all patients. Ensure return reply from consultant on patient referral consultations. Monitor and manage care for patients as they move through the system to ensure cost-effective care. Notify patients of abnormal reports.
    • Prepare and document appropriate history, physical examinations, and preoperative diagnosis. Maintain documentation of all treatment provided IAW hospital directive and prepare such records and reports as may be required. The Contract nurse practitioners shall use the inpatient and outpatient electronic health records systems to document patient treatment and submit orders. Workload statistics and patient outcome information on all services provided will be monitored by Department of Medicine and Health Plans Management, SAMMC.
    • Contract nurse practitioners, as workload permits during scheduled duty, shall attend the Department staff meetings, resident teaching conferences (local), and the Quality Improvement Committee meetings as required by the Chief, Department of OBGYN. Contract nurse practitioners may also attend such meetings scheduled during other than their assigned duty shift.

    Qualifications

    Minimum Qualifications:
    Education: Graduate of an Advance Practice Nursing program in Womens Health, OB/GYN
    Experience: Minimum 5 years experience as a Nurse Practitioner, including 2 years full-time experience within Womens Health, OB/GYN
    License/Certification: Active, Unrestricted Nurse Practitioner License in the state of Texas; current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification; current DEA Registration
    Security: Must be a U.S. citizen and must be able to pass a government background check
