    Monday - Friday, 7:30am - 4:30pm (40 hours a week)
    No On-Call!
    No weekends!
    No holidays!
    Job Specific Details and Tasks:
    • Coordinate patient care with other members of the health care team through a continuum of care from the outpatient to inpatient setting and/or inpatient to outpatient setting and/or from outpatient to outpatient setting and/or from the inpatient to inpatient setting and facilitates the achievement of optimal outcomes in relation to care, quality and cost effectiveness in accordance with nationally recognized, accepted standards from the healthcare industry, DoD, and Air Force Medical Service. 
    • Ensures compliance with standards of care and practice in accordance with all established policies, procedures, and guidelines used in the medical treatment facility.  Provides care within ethical and legal boundaries.
    • Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with a diverse group of people for the purpose of informing the healthcare team of plans/actions, for teaching/education to benefit the patient/family and organization.  Effectively use appropriate communication format in addressing professional issues. Excellent written communication skills to perform accurate documentation, both written and electronic, of all activity in accordance with contract requirements.
    • Accountable for making patient care assignments based on the scope of practice and skill level utilizing the nursing process as a basis for professional practice.    
    • Skill in setting up, operating and monitoring specialized medical equipment such as IV infusion pumps, cardiac monitoring devices, EKG units, oxygen analyzers, nebulizers, and other unit specific equipment. 
    • Ability to recognize adverse signs and symptoms and react/respond quickly by communicating with other members of the health care team verbally or overhead paging or via telephone in emergency situations.    
    • Knowledge of a variety of pharmacological agents used in patient treatment, the desired effects, side effects, and complications of their use as well as the accurate administration of the pharmacologic agent, including dosage calculations as required. Knowledge of the administrative requirements for proper documentation of patient’s condition including disease progress, acknowledgement of teaching, and follow up care.
    • Make referral appointments and arrange specialty care, as applicable.
    • Completes orientation and competency verification programs in accordance with (IAW) unit guidelines.
    • Serves and participates in element staff meetings as directed by the CO. 
    • Provides relevant and timely information to these groups, and provides input either verbally or in writing to decision-making and process improvement.
    • Participates in customer service initiatives, and medical readiness activities, designed to enhance health services.  
    • Required in-depth working knowledge of the military health care system including TRICARE health benefits or a working knowledge of the principles of fee for-services, preferred provider network and managed care/HMO organizations is required.
    • Ability to synthesize data from a variety of sources—computerized records, laboratory & radiological results, written and verbal information provided by the patient, verbal and written information provided from the provider, other health care records, and physical exam and make appropriate clinical decisions.
    • Knowledge of professional care theories, principles, practices, and procedures to perform nursing assignments of critically ill patients. Demonstrates knowledge of growth and development, and pathophysiology of disease processes specific to the critical care unit population to include all ages of the spectrum from pediatrics to geriatrics.
    • Demonstrate knowledge, of growth and development, and pathophysiology of disease processes, specific to the Cardiology/Pulmonary clinic.
    • Knowledge of a wide range of medical disorders and conditions as appropriate, as seen in critically ill patients.
    • Knowledge of computer operations and proficiency in the use of basic word processing, data entry and automated medical records.


    Minimum Qualifications:
    License/Certification: Active, Unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license to practice nursing in any of the 50 States.
    Education: Must possess a BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing)
    Experience: The applicant must have a minimum of two years' experience in a cardiology related setting, such as Cath-Lab, Cardiology Clinic, Pulmonary, etc...
    Security: Must be able to pass a government background check
