Responsibilities

Schedule:
Monday - Friday, 7:30am - 4:30pm
 
Job Specific Details and Tasks:

• Perform a wide variety of laboratory tests either manually or using automated instrumentation
• Evaluate quality control information against measurable criteria in the performance of laboratory tests.
• Receive written requisitions for laboratory tests.
• Obtain laboratory specimens and instruct staff on proper specimen collection.
• Observe test reactions, changes of color, or formation of precipitates; studies or subjects treated specimens to automatic analyzing equipment to make qualitative and quantitative analysis.
• Bring to the attention of the section supervisor, pathologist or general laboratory supervisor any unusual or grossly abnormal test result.
• Perform light general cleaning of work areas such as collection of trash, autoclaving of specimens, cleaning of bench tops and light dusting.
• Participate/perform the prescribed QC and CAP proficiency testing (PT) programs.
• Adhere to infection control procedures including the use of personal protective equipment and proper disposal of waste.
• Participate in required equipment, in-service training and continuing medical education.
• Ensure safe work environment and employ safe work habits.
• Assist with training laboratory staff and training programs.
• Participate in frozen blood program, performing tasks related to glycerolization and deglycerolization of blood.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Graduation from an approved Medical Laboratory Technician program
Experience: Minimum 1 year experience
License/Certification and Training: Current certification through ASCP or AMT, BLS. 
Security:  Government background check required
 
Pay Scale: $42.20 - $42.75/hr, to be determined based on employment options, qualifications, experience, and location
